A Cortland man died Sunday night after a vehicle hit him while he was crouched down on the eastbound lane of Ohio 305 just west of Mosquito Lake, Ohio State Highway Patrol officials said in a press release.

Steven Noe, 37, was crouched down in the eastbound lane of state Route 305 when a white 2015 Ford Explorer hit him driven by a 42-year-old Warren woman, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. It happened just after 9 p.m. and Noe died from his injuries at the scene.

The release states Noe was wearing black clothing and it was unclear why he was crouched in the roadway.

Bazetta Township Police, Fire, and EMS personnel, as well as the Cortland Police Department, assisted at the scene of the crash, which is under investigation. The report indicated that it does not appear the driver is facing any criminal charges at this time.
