Boardman police were dispatched to the parking lot of the plaza in the 7100 block of Tiffany Boulevard to investigate the report of three young children left unattended in a 2010 Ford 150 pickup which had its motor running.

The report was made at 10:50 a.m. April 27. An officer observed two children, a 2-year-old boy and a 22-month-old walking around freely in the back seat while a third child, a nine-month-old female, was seated in a baby carrier on the passenger side of the back seat. The mother came over “as soon as she saw the police car,” the report stated. She told officers she was picking up a Door Dash order from the Mocha House located in the plaza, and it was taking longer than expected. The woman told officers she frequently takes her children with her while she fills out Door Dash orders.

Because the children were unsecured and left alone in the running vehicle, the report stated, the woman was booked for three counts of misdemeanor endangering children. She was not taken into custody, but given a summons, the report stated. A relative arrived on scene a short time later to secure the other two children in car seats. The report was forwarded to Mahoning County Children Services.
