A Youngstown man was sentenced to 24 months in state prison after he had pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and having weapons while under disability felonies.

Travon M. Badie, 32, of North Hazelwood Avenue, was not eligible for probation, according to Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Cynthia Rice, because of his previous prison sentence in 2009 for a manslaughter conviction while he was a juvenile.

According to Assistant Prosecutor Gabriel Wildman, the victim in the case was not cooperative and did not provide an impact statement to the court.

The offenses involved an April 8, 2023, incident in the 200 block of Churchill Hubbard Road in Liberty Township where a 27-year-old woman reported she was in the house with her children when she was struck by the defendant who carried a gun. Because of his previous felony convictions, Badie was prohibited from carrying firearms.
