Hear from two Cleveland poets taking a trip to the area for Lit Youngstown’s First Wednesday Reader Series.

It’s happening at 7 p.m. on June 5 at the Westside Bowl.

Isaiah Hunt and Hilary Plum are the featured creatives reading in the trophy room.

Isaiah Hunt is a writer whose work focuses on near-future stories about his community, the entertainment industry, and Black cyberculture. His work is available through the Wick Poetry Center, Luna Negra, and Camel Coat Press.

Hilary Plum is a writer, editor and teacher living in Cleveland Heights. Her recent work includes Excisions, a volume of poetry; Hole Studies, an essay collection; and the novel Strawberry Fields, which won the Fence Modern Prize in Prose.

Another reading featuring local students at Stambaugh Auditorium’s Christman Hall is slated at 7 p.m. on June 4.

The students from East High School, Chaney High School and Rayen Early College participated in Lit Youngstown’s CityVerse.

They’ll read original poems and compete for a chance to win cash prizes and a $5,000 scholarship. The event is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Lit Youngstown is also offering summer workshops starting June 20.
