A woman attempted to steal several meat items from Sparkle Market on South Avenue on Wednesday morning, according to a Boardman police report.

A Sparkle Market employee saw her put seven steaks, a hamburger, a rack of ribs, a pork chop and a kielbasa in a black and gold handbag. She then tried to leave without paying before the employee stopped her at the door, according to a police report.

The police report says the employee told the woman she is not leaving with the things she took to which the woman responded, “Yes I am.”

The employee proceeded to grab her handbag and the woman immediately ran away reports indicated. Besides the items she attempted to steal, police said her purse contained a singular metal fork which the police reported they took into evidence.

The were valued at a total of $106.22, according to a statement the employee made to the police.

Police were called to investigate the matter. They have not yet caught the suspect and the matter is still under investigation.
