A crash on U.S. Route 62 in Canfield Township left a woman with serious injuries on Wednesday.

Maureen Hoover, 51, from Canfield was turning into the highway in her 2022 Kia Seltos from a private road near Milepost 7, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. She did not stop for an oncoming truck and was struck from the driver’s side. Her car rolled several times before stopping in a nearby culvert.

Joseph Popa, 59, of Salem was driving a 1989 International commercial truck with an attached trailer, according to OSHP. After colliding with Hoover, he drove into the culvert as well but was uninjured.

The crash caused U.S. Route 62 to briefly close, but it has since been reopened.

Hoover was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and is currently in stable condition. The crash remains under investigation.
