New exhibit at Butler Institute of American Art features famous artwork by Rembrandt, Goya
The highly-anticipated exhibit is officially open at the Butler Institute of American in Youngstown showcasing three centuries of printmaking by world famous artists.
The Marvel of Old Masters exhibit is comprised of 60 engravings, etchings and woodcuts by three famous artists: Rembrandt, Albrecht Dürer and Francisco Goya.
Louis Zona, director of the Butler, said Youngstown residents probably haven’t had the chance to see something as historic and beautiful as this exhibit.
It’s a celebration of 300 years of masterful printmaking, according to Zona, who emphasized the educational benefits of exhibitions like The Marvel of Old Masters.
It’s on display starting this week through August 4 in Mesaros Galleries at the Butler, located on Wick Avenue in Youngstown.
Visit the Butler from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon - 4 p.m. on Sunday; there’s no admission fee.
The Butler is also preparing for this summer’s art classes as well as the 88th National Midyear Exhibition, premiering June 23.
