Police say Sharon, Pa. distracted driver caused crash that hurt 8 people
Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to calls of a two-car crash, injuring 8 people.
The crash occurred on Sunday afternoon on Ohio 7 near Thompson Sharpville Road when a Jeep Cherokee, which contained 6 people, slammed into a pickup truck with 2 people.
The driver of the Jeep was identified by troopers as Ronald Jones of Sharon, Pa.
OSHP believes the crash was caused by Jones being distracted in the vehicle.
The Jeep had a 9-year-old boy who was unrestrained in the trunk. All six individuals in the Jeep were transported to Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, including one woman who sustained serious injuries.
Jones received two citations for the incident, including a violation of assured clear distance.
OSHP closed down a portion of Ohio 7 following the crash between 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
