The Ohio Department of Transportation and Gov. Mike DeWine announced 14 new transportation improvement projects planned for raodways across the state.

The govenor’s office is allocating $5 million in state funding to these statewide projects aimed to “support economic development, job creation and retention.”

“As Ohio’s economy continues to grow, our transportation system must keep pace. These projects will help create and retain jobs by ensuring that businesses can safely and efficiently carry out their work and transport products,” said Gov. DeWine.

Mahoning, Trumbull projects to benefit from state funding

Two of the projects are in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

A $500,000 upgrade is set to begin in 2027 on the Mahoning Avenue Industrial Corridor in Jackson Township.

According to ODOT, crews will be replacing a bridge, adding a roundabout, expanding the width of the lanes and fixing the drainage system.

In Howland Township, there will be a new traffic signal and more work done on the left turn lane at the intersection of Mines Road and State Route 46.

The project is set to start in 2025 and will cost $200,000.

According to ODOT, these projects will support 22,735 jobs across the state and over $3 billion in private investments.

“Ohio is within a day’s drive of 60 percent of the U.S. and Canadian population. When it comes to logistics, we’re the heart of it all. These projects will ensure that we maintain that status,” said ODOT director Jack Marchbanks.
