Butler Institute of American Art celebrating 250 years of U.S., local history
A new exhibit coming to the Butler Institute of American Art will receive funding from the state honoring the nation’s 250-year anniversary.
An organization called America 250-Ohio chose the Butler Institute of American Art as one of their grant recipients working on projects in honor of 250 years of U.S. history.
America 250-Ohio is giving away $600,000 in total to 61 organizations in different award amounts; the Butler received the Trillium Local Activities grant.
The money will go toward an exhibition highlighting the founder of the museum, Joseph G. Butler, Jr., and his life as a patron of the arts, philanthropist and civic leader.
The exhibit will also look back on 300 years of U.S. art history.
All the projects funded are set to be completed between this month and May 31, 2025.
“The breadth and depth of the projects being submitted for grant consideration has been nothing short of astonishing,” said Todd Kleismit, Executive Director at the America 250-Ohio Commission. “America 250-Ohio is honored to play a role in helping bring about community-driven initiatives that will enhance the historical and cultural legacy of our great State for the next 250 years.”
