Portage County man arrested after sports cards reported stolen from Boardman Meijer
A 42-year-old Portage County man was arrested on theft charges in connection with a reported theft of various sports cards from a Boardman business in July, according to a police report.
Boardman police took custody of a Windham man without incident about 6 p.m. on Aug. 5.
He was released at the Boardman police station after being booked and given a summons for Mahoning County Court appearance at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 8.
Boardman police heard on Aug. 4 from the loss prevention department of Meijer at 1400 Boardman Canfield Road.
The complaint stated that a man entered the store on July 14 at about 2:40 p.m., opened numerous boxes of various sports cards on the sales floor, stole the packs inside the boxes, and left the store approximately an hour later.
The suspect got into a black Ford Escape that left the premises. Store security captured the incident on security footage which was forwarded to detectives, the report stated. The report did not indicate the value of the stolen sports cards.
