The second annual Ghost Tour will return to downtown Youngstown on Oct. 3 and 4, and tickets are officially on sale for the tour.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, this year’s tour features an additional day to meet the public’s high demand.

The city of Youngstown partnered with the Mahoning Valley Historical Society and Smarter Move Talent for the event.

Participants will meet ghosts along historic West Federal Street in Youngstown, who’ll provide family-friendly entertainment. The ghosts are local actors recruited by Smarter Move Talent.

Cindy Castro DiRusso owns Smarter Move Talent, the company producing the tour.

“We are thrilled to bring back the Ghost Tour for a second year,” she said. “It’s a unique way to experience Youngstown’s history and hauntings.”

Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased online.

Melanie Clarke-Penella is the city’s special events coordinator.

“All actors are compensated for their work, and all costumes are rented from Hopewell Theatre on Mahoning Avenue. Our goal is to support and showcase local talent through this event. We encourage you to enjoy a meal at one of our exceptional downtown restaurants before or after your tour,” Clarke-Penella said.

Nikki Posterli, chief of staff for Youngstown Mayor Jamael “Tito” Brown, said she’s excited for the return of the ghost tour this year.

“I was apprehensive last year about attending a “ghost tour” however, I was happily surprised and educated on the rich history of Youngstown. Melanie and her team did a phenomenal job creating costumes, scripts, and site selection. This was truly a fun, family-friendly experience. I am pleased that this year is being promoted as Dinner and a Show to support our local restaurants and the arts, “said Posterli.

Currently, ticket availability is limited to 444. If tickets are sold out, there’s a wait list you can join.

Volunteers from the Mahoning Valley Historical Society are leading the tours, and anyone interested in volunteering can email mcpenella@youngstownohio.gov
