Ohio 46 south to Ohio 82 east ramp will be closed for months in diverging diamond project
Motorists in Trumbull County will have to be aware of lane change situations and new closures in a construction update on the lengthy diverging diamond project at the busy Ohio 82/Ohio 46 interchange in Howland Township near the Eastwood Mall complex.
According to a news release from the Ohio Department of Transportation, the ramp from Ohio 46 south to Ohio 82 east will be closed through late spring 2025. Detours will be posted from Ohio 82 west to Elm Road to Ohio 82 east.
The release also states that the ramp from state Route 82 eastbound to Ohio 46 northbound will remain closed also through late spring of 2025. That detour is from Ohio 82 east to Ohio 193 to Ohio 82 west to Ohio 46.
The following restrictions also remain in effect through November 2024:
- Ohio 46 between Market Street and U.S. 422 will maintain various lane restrictions, as will Ohio 82 between Elm Road and Howland Wilson Road.
- The ramp from East Market Street to Ohio 82 eastbound is closed through November 2024. The detour is motorist use East Market Street to Howland Wilson Road to Ohio 82.
- The estimated completion of the new “diverging diamond” is scheduled for the fall of 2026.
