Reported bomb threat by former Walmart worker investigated by Boardman police
Boardman police are investigating a threat made by a former Walmart employee who allegedly told two current employees the store would be blown up if the ex-employee wasn’t rehired.
The officers were dispatched to the store shortly after midnight on Sept. 16. The threat was made between 10:15 and 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 while the ex-employee was shopping, according to the report.
During the conversation, the former employee reportedly stated: “I better get rehired back. If I don’t… Do you know what happened downtown Youngstown at the Chase building? I will bomb this place just like that. I know how to make it happen and I am not afraid to do it.”
When the two employees gave a worried look, the suspect the allegedly said: “Don’t worry, I won’t do it while you are working.”
Investigators looked at the suspect’s applications for rehire -- dated for July 29, 2024 and Sept. 7, 2024. No arrests have yet been made.
