Public invited to open candidate forum with local state reps, leaders in Youngstown

The Greater Youngstown Community Mobilization Coalition and Junior Civic League are hosting an open forum featuring candidates for office who will represent Mahoning County area residents.

The public is invited to attend the event happening at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the K. L. Simon Community Center. The center is at 1507 Hillman St. in Youngstown.

Several candidates for office will be going head-to-head on the Nov. 5 ballot.

The public will get to hear directly from these candidates running to be state representatives and members of Senate and Congress at the forum:

  • State Representative for 59th District: Lauren McNally (Democrat) and Emily Ciccone (Republican)
  • State Representative for 58th District: Tex Fischer (Republican) and Laura Schaeffer (Democratic)

  • Sixth Congressional District: Michael A. Rulli (Republican) and Michael L. Kripchak (Republican)
  • 33rd State Senate: Al Cutrona (Republican) and Marty Hume (Democratic)

Candidates for other county seats will also be attending the forum, including county recorders, prosecutors, treasurers and commissioners.
