Each December, the Ohio Department of Development releases the Ohio Holiday Lights Trail, a list of some of the most-loved holiday light displays across the state.

This year, there are over 70 brilliant displays included on the list, including two in the Mahoning Valley and several more in the northeast Ohio region.

The Joy of Christmas Light Show

Visit Columbiana County for the annual Joy of Christmas Light Show experience.

The drive-thru light display features one million lights and over 90 displays, all operated by volunteers to benefit the Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau.

It costs $20 for each vehicle to enter, and there are seasonal passes available for $40 from the tourism bureau.

In addition to admiring dazzling displays at Joy of Christmas Light Show, volunteers have also set up Santa’s Ice Castle and the Gingerbread House.

Inside Santa’s Ice Castle, fill up on Christmas cookies and hot chocolate while making festive holiday crafts.

Stop by Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park for the full holiday experience from 6 - 9 p.m. through Dec. 23, located at 298 East Park Ave.

From Dec. 24 through Dec. 28, only the lights display will be open from 6 - 9 p.m. at Harvey S. Firestone Park.

Light Up the Square

According to Allie Vugrincic with the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau, Warren’s Courthouse Square “twinkles all through December and into the new year, thanks to the efforts of the nonprofit Light Up the Square.”

Vugrincic wrote that the group decorates Courthouse Square in Warren in honor of late local restaurant owner, Jim Economos.

Head to 180 N. Park Ave. in Warren for the holiday display.
