More schools cancel upcoming football games against Ursuline High School
Several high schools have now canceled upcoming football games against Ursuline High School.
The decisions to cancel come after two separate lawsuits were filed against Ursuline High School, its administration, and members of the football team alleging hazing, physical and sexual assault, and subject to the creation and dissemination of child pornography during a football camp trip in June 2025.
The complaint also names many football players and their parents as defendants, according to the law firm representing the family.
The first school to cancel its game against Ursuline was Warren G. Harding. On Wednesday, Sept. 10, the school issued a statement saying they were canceling the game scheduled for Sept. 19. The second lawsuit against Urusline had been filed earlier that morning.
On Thursday, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School released a statement saying they made the decision to not play both the junior varsity and varsity games against Ursuline scheduled for Oct. 3 and 4.
On Friday morning, the Youngstown City School District announced that Chaney would also be canceling its game scheduled for Oct. 17.
“Chaney Cowboys will no longer play Ursuline High School on October 17. The decision was made in the best interest of our scholars and school community,” the statement read.
