In short, yes, but why?
“Because flood-damaged structures have multiple accessible exits, they are more likely to attract snakes. Snakes that have been displaced may be discovered in heaps of debris during cleanup or beneath material left behind,” according to USA today.
Heavy rains can create streams, while wind can cause damage to dens. These things may cause copperheads to venture out to find new shelter or higher ground, but that isn’t the only reason you may see more of them after it rains.
Copperheads may find more meals such as amphibians when it rains, so they may be more active trying to catch a snack after heavy rainfall.
But this is not super common because copperheads are “likely to sit and wait for prey to come by them as they are to actively search for it.”
