A Georgia woman was shot to death during what family members say was a domestic dispute fueled by an alleged love triangle, news outlets report.

It happened at about 12:45 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at a home in Conyers, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrived to find a woman dead from a gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as 24-year-old Kyla Cooper, was arguing with another woman, Arkia Tate, before she was shot and killed, authorities said.

A man told news outlets that Cooper was his cousin, according to WSB-TV.

The mom of two recently learned she was pregnant and drove to her boyfriend’s house to tell him, the family member told WAGA. That’s when the man’s other girlfriend arrived, leading to a fight that ended in gunfire.

“I heard a lot of arguing,” neighbor Kamesha Smith told WANF. “I heard some thumps and then I heard the shot.”

Then, “there was a car flying down the street with its lights off,” the neighbor told the station. “There was just a lot of screaming and a lot of crying.”

Tate was arrested a short time later, WXIA reported. She is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, deputies said.

A second person, a man, was arrested on charges unrelated to the shooting, according to authorities.

Conyers is about a 20-mile drive east from downtown Atlanta.
