During the four-day Christmas period this year, nine people were killed in eight fatal crashes on Ohio roadways.

It’s the fewest deaths recorded during Christmas since 2018, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol data.

Of the nine fatalities, five people weren’t wearing a safety belt.

Impairment was a factor in two of the crashes.

Troopers also arrested 213 people for operating a vehicle while impaired.

Twenty-one drivers were arrested for illegal drugs.

Troopers also issued citations for 228 safety belt and 75 distracted driving violations.

Additionally, troopers assisted 1,049 motorists on Ohio roadways.

OSP said the public is encouraged to use #677 to report dangerous or impaired drivers.
