Anthony Carter of Struthers won the Week 11 edition of the Mahoning Matters football Athlete of the Week after rushing for 201 yards and a touchdown to lead Struthers past Girard, 21-16.
Nominees this week include:
- Antuan Gardner: Rushed for a school-record 471 yards and six touchdowns on 29 carries to lead Niles past Edgewood 65-28.
- Dom Pagano: Completed 9-of-10 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a third to lead Poland past East Liverpool, 42-14.
DeShawn Vaughn Jr.: Completed 10-of-12 for 207 yards and two touchdowns to lead Fitch past Cleveland John Hay 42-0.
Beau Alazaus: Threw for 236 yards and three touchdowns to lead West Branch past Woodridge 33-20.
Dante Gentile: Ran for four touchdowns to lead Springfield past Monroeville, 35-21.
Ian Erb: Scored three touchdowns to lead Mineral Ridge past Jackson-Milton, 35-6.
Michael Ballone: Threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Lowellville past Steubenville Central Catholic, 34-0.
