Outstanding Mahoning Valley high school football playoff matchups on tap Friday

The second-round of the OHSAA football playoffs will feature several outstanding matchups on Friday night throughout the area.

Poland vs. Struthers

Poland (10-1) will entertain the Struthers Wildcats (8-3) Friday night at 7 p.m. in what should be a tremendous rematch of their Week 10 game when the Bulldogs clipped the Wildcats, 28-27.

West Branch vs. Streetsboro

West Branch (10-1) will host Streetsboro (10-1) Friday night in a D4 playoff game in Beloit at 7 p.m. This game features two of the most prolific scoring offenses around. Both teams are averaging over 44 points-per-game.

Lowellville vs. Western Reserve

Lowellville (10-1) travels to Western Reserve (9-2) Friday night at 7 for a D7 playoff game in a much-anticipated rematch. Western Reserve handed Lowellville its only regular-season loss and the Rockets have been on a roll ever since.

Ursuline vs. Canfield

In an interesting all-area playoff game Friday night at 7 p.m., Youngstown Ursuline (11-0) will host the defending D3 state champion Canfield Cardinals.
