EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool, the No. 2-ranked team in the Mahoning Matters Super 7 boys’ basketball poll, won its 14th game in 17 outings Friday night in a 78-62 win over the Youngstown East Golden Bears here.

The Potters’ leading scorer was Preston Kerr with 23 points.

The win was the 200th for East Liverpool head coach Nate Conley.

“It’s not something that I strive for in getting to 100 or 200, but it shows the type of guys I’ve been coaching for 14 years,” said Conley, who deflected the praise away from himself and to the many players he has coached in his highly successful system. “It’s not an easy job, but it’s something I love to do and I’m having fun with it,” added Conley.

Youngstown East’s Isaiah McCray led all scorers in the game with 32 points.

The Golden Bears’ record is 10-9.
