NFL legend with Lisbon ties to deliver Lombardi Trophy at Super Bowl
An NFL legend who owns a farm in Lisbon will be at the Super Bowl on Sunday to carry the Lombardi championship trophy to the winning team after the game.
Stow native and Hall of Famer Larry Csonka, who won the Super Bowl MVP for the Miami Dolphins when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings 24-7 in 1974, made the announcement Wednesday on his Facebook page.
“Good Morning from Las Vegas! I’ve been asked to carry the Lombardi Trophy to the stage of the Super Bowl LVIII champions on Sunday,” Csonka said in the Facebook post. “This also commemorates my 50-year anniversary as MVP of Super Bowl VIII. Quite an honor. Hope you’ll all stay tuned for postgame celebrations! I’ll be there.”
