Ursuline, Canfield, Warren JFK take district boys basketball titles, West Branch runner-up

The Ursuline Fighting Irish won their first District Championship since 2017 by defeating Notre Dame Cathedral Latin 61-44 in Warren on Saturday.

The Irish were led in scoring by senior Geno Lucente with 22 points in the win.

Ursuline will now focus on the Division II northeast regional next week when they face Cleveland Villa Angela- St. Joseph in the Regional Semifinal on Thursday in Canton.

Canfield stamps ticket to Division II Regional

The Canfield Cardinals beat Glenville 64-51 in the Division II District Championship to secure its first district title in 23 years.

Dylan Shapiro led the Cardinals in scoring with 13 points in the game. Landon Shina also had a nice game with 11 points in the win.

Canfield will bring a 13 game win streak to face Warrensville Heights in the Division II Regional Semifinals on Thursday in Canton.

Warren JFK takes district crown

Warren JFK defeated Heartland Christian 76-39 on Friday night.

Michael Condoleon led the Eagles with 22 points.

Warren JFK will next face Dalton 8 p.m. Tuesday in Canton.

West Branch district title dreams fall short

The West Branch Warriors quest for a district title falls short in the Division II District Finals as they lost to Warrensville Heights 51-49 on Saturday.

The Warriors were up by six late in the fourth quarter but could not close it out against their Cleveland area opponents.

Warrensville Heights will face Canfield in Canton on Thursday in the Division II Regional Semifinals.
