It was a memorable boys and girls basketball season for greater Mahoning Valley-area teams in 2023-2024, highlighted by Youngstown Ursuline’s qualification to the OHSAA State Boys’ Basketball State Tournament recently at UD Arena in Dayton.

Several area teams won or repeated as league champions but equally impressive was the volume of area boys’ and girls’ basketball teams that enjoyed winning seasons.

A total of 25 area boys’ basketball teams and 26 area girls’ basketball teams posted winning records. It’s one of the best overall marks in many years.
