Giant Eagle now won’t require masks for vaccinated customers
The grocery store chain Giant Eagle won't require fully vaccinated customers or employees to wear masks inside their supermarkets or GetGo locations beginning Monday, May 24.
"Those not fully vaccinated will continue to be required to wear a mask or other face covering while in-store," reads a Tuesday news release. "For those not fully vaccinated who are unable to wear a mask or other face covering, Giant Eagle's online grocery ordering continues to be available with convenient curbside pickup and delivery options."
The announcement comes days after a statement issued in response to Ohio's health order sunset on June 2, which stated masks would continue to be required as the company considered "the shifts in state and CDC guidance."
"As we continue to navigate this public health crisis, it is vital that we all work together to protect ourselves and each other," reads the release. "To best do this, we have taken steps to increase access to the COVID-19 vaccine by offering walk-up availability in our in-store pharmacy locations. We encourage anyone eligible who has not yet received the vaccine to consider doing so."
