MIKE BROWN: Hubbard, West Branch ink two-year football pact
Hubbard and West Branch, two tradition-rich football programs, have signed on the dotted line to play, starting in 2024.
The deal is a two-year home-and-home contract.
The game will be in Week 1 and their first meeting will be in West Branch’s 5,200-seat Clinton Heacock Stadium in 2024.
Given their successful histories, it’s surprising to think that the Eagles and Warriors haven’t met on the football field in 37 years.
When did Hubbard and West Branch last play in football?
Their last meeting was in 1985 in Beloit when West Branch defeated the Eagles 24-0. The two teams have played five times in their history. West Branch has won the last two meetings in 1965 and 1985, but Hubbard leads the overall series, 3-2. Their first meeting was in 1962 and was won by the Eagles, 20-0.
Both schools have impressive all-time historical records.
Hubbard, which began playing football in 1913, is 498-431 all-time for a winning percentage of .536.
West Branch, which began playing football in 1960, is 394-252 all-time for a winning percentage of .609.
