Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine says Norfolk Southern Alan Shaw has been “very receptive” to requests to pay for individuals and families impacted by February’s train derailment in East Palestine.

DeWine wants the company to start a fund to cover healthcare issues by residents related to the derailment residents after the cleanup is done.

“He’s been very receptive to this. He’s engaging in conversations with Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, so he is very receptive,” DeWine said.

The governor met with Shaw earlier in the week.

Shaw was in Columbus this week to testify in front of the Ohio Senate Rail Committee.
