Mercy Health opens new walk-in care, virtual care services in East Palestine and Sebring
Virtual and walk-in treatment has been expanded to some of the Mahoning Valley’s rural communities, according to Mercy Health.
Walk-in care is now available at the East Palestine Mercy Health Primary Care branch and in Sebring.
Walk-in care expands
It’s the ninth Mercy Health location in the Mahoning Valley where patients can see a primary care provider with no appointment.
Patients also now have access to virtual care at East Palestine Primary Care as well as Mercy Health’s Sebring Primary Care.
“Mercy Health continues to respond and adapt to the ever-changing health care needs of the Mahoning Valley, through new, enhanced points of care,” said Dr. Jim Kravec, chief clinical officer for Mercy Health – Youngstown and Lorain. “We know access to care close to home can significantly impact health outcomes for patients, which is why we’re expanding access in our rural communities.”
East Palestine Primary Care is seeing walk-in patients Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at 132 N. Market St.
Patients access virtual care
According to the release, patients can now make virtual appointments with their specialty care providers.
“Our virtual specialty clinics allow a patient’s primary care physician to provide even more comprehensive, patient-centered care, while also giving patients more convenient access to specialty care close to home,” said Missy Russo, MHA, chief operating officer, Mercy Health Physicians -Youngstown. “These clinics give patients who may have limited or no internet connectivity an opportunity to access virtual specialty appointments, and it keeps patients, especially those who may be more vulnerable, from having to make long, unnecessary trips to the hospital.”
Visit your Mercy Health primary care provider to learn about using on-site technology to schedule virtual appointment with specialty doctors. Each location has specific rooms that are equipped with virtual conferencing technology to enable patients to interact with their specialty provider, while having a medical assistant on-site, Mercy Health officials explained.
Right now, the virtual specialty clinic appointments are available to oncology and cardiology patients.
“Our virtual specialty clinics will not replace traditional in-person specialty care, but rather support it, by giving patients more options and access points to the care they need,” said Russo.
