Meet artist Stuart Pearl at Butler Institute of American Art event
Cleveland photographer Stuart Pearl will host a meet-and-greet this Sunday at the Butler Institute of American Art.
The meet-the-artist event is happening from 2:30-4 p.m. in the Regional Photography Hallway.
The exhibit showcases photos taken by Pearl at the Sloss Furnace in Alabama.
“In 2022 while visiting our daughter Stephanie and her husband Drew in Tuscaloosa Alabama, I was taken to a place she knew I’d love to photograph, Sloss Furnaces. The following exhibit is the result of that trip with her,” Pearl said.
According to Jean Shreffler, archivist at the Butler Institute of American Art, the pictures mirror the memories many Mahoning Valley residents have from the era of local iron and steel manufacturing.
The Sloss Furnaces Historic landmark in Alabama, according to Schreffler, is a representative symbol of the iron industry that existed in such cities as Youngstown and Cleveland.
