Eastern Gateway Community College President Michael Geoghegan announces retirement for June 2024

Eastern Gateway Community College President Michael Geoghegan announced today that he will be retiring as President in June of 2024 after almost seven years of service to the college.

Eastern Gateway will name an interim president from within the college and in the fall, an executive firm will begin a national search to find Geoghegan’s successor.

“We are forever grateful and indebted to President Michael Geoghegan for his dedication and service to Eastern Gateway, our staff, our faculty and most importantly, our students,” said James M. Gasior, Board Chair. “Throughout his tenure, President Geoghegan served our college with distinction. A fearless leader, he helped transform the school, raising standards and creating incredible opportunities for our students to achieve their dreams. We are thankful that he will be here to help us as we go through this transition, first appointing an interim President from within Eastern Gateway, and then as we open the search nationwide for a new President. We are so grateful for President Geoghegan’s unwavering commitment to Eastern Gateway.”

“Serving as President of Eastern Gateway Community College has been a privilege and one of the most rewarding experiences in my life,” said Michael Geoghegan, President Eastern Gateway Community College. “Thousands of students have found a path to a brighter future at our college, and I feel so grateful to have been a part of their journey. I’m retiring knowing that the college is in good hands and on a good path. I look forward to working with the Board as they select an interim President, and eventually find someone who can serve this school, this community and all the students who take the leap to earn a higher education. I may be retiring from my position as President, but, like I’ve said before, once a Gator, always a Gator. I will always consider myself a champion of Eastern Gateway and though I may not be President, that will never change.”
