Ohio Department of Education releases district report cards, evaluations this week
School districts, just like their students, receive evaluations and report cards every from the Ohio Department of Education, which were released this week.
Districts are evaluated and given an overall rating and star ratings for five components: achievement, early literacy, closing gaps for students, academic progress and graduation rates.
According to the state’s Facebook, nearly 90% of districts earned overall ratings of three stars or higher, meaning they met state expectations for performance.
What are districts evaluated on?
The Ohio Department of Education also look at data pertaining to how schools prepare their students for future careers, in the College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness report.
This report doesn’t actually contribute to the overall rating on the 2023 reports. Here’s what their website says about choosing the right school:
“Report cards are only one part of the story about what is happening in schools and districts. To get a more complete picture, we encourage you to visit schools, talk to educators, parents and students, and review the school’s or district’s webpage. A lot of great things are happening every day in Ohio’s schools.”
