Celebrate Hispanic culture this Saturday at Hola Fest in downtown Youngstown
National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15.
This weekend, kick off this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month at Youngstown’s most prominent Hispanic cultural celebration, Hola Fest.
This Saturday, from noon - 9 p.m., head out to Hola Fest for a community parade, pageant and festival in downtown Youngstown.
It’s at Raymond John Wean Foundation Park, next to Covelli on East Front Street.
It’s open to everyone. There’s no admission fee, but parking is limited.
What’s happening at Hola Fest?
There will be family-friendly activities and live entertainment, including dance lessons, performances by local musicians and educational booths to learn more about Hispanic culture in Youngstown.
According to Hola Fest, each Hispanic country will be represented with their booth at the festival, which includes Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, México, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Perú.
The parade starts at noon at South Avenue and East Front Street into Wean Park.

Listen to the SMARTS Drum Circle at 2 p.m. in the main vendor lot, then stick around for dance and Zumba lessons starting at 3:30 p.m.
Grupo Fuego will take the main stage at 5 p.m., followed by Sammy DeLeon at 6:45 and 8:15 p.m.

According to the latest state census, 14,093 Hispanics live in Mahoning County.
Ohio’s Hispanic community makes up over four percent of the state’s total population, about 500,000 people.
