Number of COVID-19 deaths increase in Ohio, U.S. during September
Last week, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Health director Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff discussed COVID-19 and the importance of getting updated vaccines during a virtual conference.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, fewer people in the U.S. are testing positive for COVID-19 this past week.
The CDC data shows fewer people are being admitted to emergency rooms for the virus.
The country still had 19,079 new COVID-19 hospital admissions, but the overall trend is going down.
COVID-19 deaths increased by 8% in the U.S. during the last week of September.
COVID-19, flu vaccine clinics this week
This Wednesday, head to the Warren City Health District clinic for adults and children’s COVID-19 vaccines.
Call the Warren City Health District to see if you are eligible for the free Bridge Access Program before coming to the vaccine clinic.
In Mahoning and Trumbull counties, the percentage of COVID-19 hospitalizations remains at a medium level.
In both counties, 68 new COVID-19 hospitalizations were reported in the last week, a 36% percent change.
Columbiana County’s COVID-19 rate of hospitalizations is still low, with seven new hospital admissions for COVID-19 in Columbiana in the last week.
COVID-19, flu vaccine clinics this week
This week, head to the Warren City Health District clinic for adults and children’s COVID-19 vaccines this Wednesday.
Call the Warren City Health District to see if you are eligible for the free Bridge Access Program before coming to the vaccine clinic.
Head to the Warren City Health District’s walk-in clinic between 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at 258 E. Market St. in downtown Warren.

You can also check out the Mahoning County Public Health Department’s flu vaccine clinic at 10 a.m. - noon Wednesday in the Boardman United Methodist Church fellowship hall at 6809 Market St. in Youngstown.
MCPH will also administer flu shots at 2- 5 p.m. Wednesday at Canfield United Methodist Church, located at 27 South Broad St. in Canfield.

Akron Children’s drive-thru flu shots this month
Flu shots are available for the whole family - ages 6 months to 65 years - on Saturdays and Sundays at Akron Children’s Hospital drive-thru clinics in the Mahoning Valley.
Patients can participate in the drive-thru clinic on Oct. 21 at Akron Children’s Warren Health Center, at 5000 E. Market St. in suite 30.
There’s a second drive-thru clinic on Oct. 22 at Akron Children’s Mahoning Valley, located at 6505 Market St. in Boardman.
You can make an appointment online and select between 8 a.m. and noon for when you’d like to arrive for your shots.
