- If you know anyone who needs help with their drivers license, learn about getting a suspended license renewed at Steering Clear Clinic from 9 a.m. - noon at Price Memorial AME Zion. The Youngstown area Goodwill will be there giving away freebies and discussing employment opportunities. Spots are limited to the first 50 participants.
Support small businesses and artisan craft makers at the Youngstown Flea from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at 365 E. Boardman St. in Youngstown. Check out vendors like Bake Me Treats, Bella Amica Boutique, Whistler Studio, Linda’s Bee Farm, Mandabees Headbands and many more. Get something to eat from food trucks like Magic Tree and The Big Green Things
Stop by the Angels for Animals Hall for a benefit book sale from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. in Canfield. The Greenford Community librarians are selling duplicates of books they don’t have room for on the shelves and donating all the proceeds to Angels for Animals.
- Doors open at 1 p.m. for a fundraising dinner at Black Horse Tavern and Grille honoring the life of Girard Police Officer Justin Leo. All proceeds from dinner ticket sales will be donated to the Justin Leo Scholarship Fund. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Black Horse Tavern and Grille or by calling Ed Satterlee at (330) 531-4563.
Eight-piece band Brass Metropolis performs at 7:30 p.m. at the Ford Family Recital Hall at DeYor Performing Arts Center. They’re playing a Tribute to Chicago. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at DeYor in Youngstown.
Stop by the 100-year anniversary celebration of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County Reuben McMillan becoming a Federal Depository Library.
Sunday
Registration for the 49th Youngstown Peace Race begins at 7:30 a.m. at the downtown Youngstown YMCA. The Kids Fun Run starts at 9 a.m. on Federal Plaza in downtown Youngstown. The two-mile run/walk begins at 9:30 a.m. on Federal Plaza in downtown Youngstown. The 10-K starts at 10 a.m. and the start line drop off area is located at Kirkmere Elementary School. Stop by the 49th Annual Mesopotamia Ox Roast Antiques and Flea Market from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The address is 8800 State Route 534 in Mesopotamia and there’s no admission price.
There’s something for everyone at White House Fruit Farm for fall harvest weekends. Visit the market, fall gift barn and pumpkin pavilion in Canfield from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Don’t forget to buy a few blueberry donuts.
Youngstown State University Theatre presents a matinee show of “Zombie Prom” at 2 p.m. in Bliss Hall’s Ford Theater. “Zombie Prom,” a musical comedy set in the atomic 1950s, follows a teenage girl who falls in love with a rebel who becomes a zombie. Brook May and Ryan Thomas Bedi are two of the leading actors in the production, running until Oct. 15 at YSU.
