Niles man gets 90 days in jail, three years of intensive supervision probation

The following cases were heard Wednesday before Judge Sean O’Brien of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:

  • David Holliday, 40, of Niles, was given a three-year intensive supervision probation starting with a 90-day term in the Trumbull County jail and then off to participate in the Northeastern Ohio Community Alternative Program, a lockup rehabilitation program that teaches vital life skills. Holliday on Aug. 30, pleaded guilty to a third-degree domestic violence felony. The victim did not wish to appear in court to deliver a impact statement.
  • Candace White, 39, of Tod Avenue Northwest, Warren, pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree aggravated possession of drugs felony and was sentenced to 11 months in the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville. White’s sentence will be served concurrently to a two-year prison term she is serving out of Summit County on a conviction for drug trafficking and possession of drugs. The local case involved a police call investigated by Warren police on May 7, 2022 where a woman was found overdosed in a vehicle. Some .10 grams of methamphetamine were found in the vehicle, prosecutors said.
  • James A. Serbin, 31, of Kuszmaul Avenue, Champion, pleaded guilty to a third-degree burglary felony. Serbin, who could face anywhere from six to 36 months in prison, was one of four people charged with the burglary of a residence in the 100 block of North River Road in Warren Township on Aug. 15, 2023. Miscellaneous items were found taken from the structure and later found by police in a neighboring trailer, prosecutors said. Serbin will be sentenced after he undergoes a background investigation conducted by probation officers.
