Canfield Police Department: Officers say goodbye to canine companion Nix

Late on Monday, Canfield Police Department and DEA-Youngstown sadly announced the passing of K9 Nix.

Nix has served the City of Canfield and the greater Mahoning Valley area since October 2020.

According to a social media post, he’d become beloved by the community in a few years.

“Our condolences go out to Officer Aaron Young and his family as they process such an unexpected loss,” the police department statement read.

Nix was transported to Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital early Monday morning and diagnosed with bloat.

He underwent emergency surgery and passed away afterward, the report states.
