Youngstown prepares for annual Christmas Light-Up Night on Friday

The city of Youngstown released the schedule of events for this week’s Light Up Night and the annual Youngstown Holiday Parade.

Youngstown CityScape, the downtown Youngstown Partnership, the city of Youngstown, and Premier Bank partnered for the annual holiday celebration on Friday in downtown Youngstown.

Artificial trees drop-off

Starting Thursday, residents can donate their extra artificial Christmas trees at home and drop them off between 3 - 6 p.m. to be used for Light-Up Night.

The donated artificial trees will be set up for free photos with Santa inside The Federal Tower at the corner of Market and W Federal streets.

Trees are being dropped off Thursday at 6 W Federal St. downtown.

Light Up Night on Friday

Festivities start at 4 p.m. Friday with the outdoor downtown Youngstown Flea on Phelps Street.

Shop for gifts and treats sold by local vendors set up downtown from 4 - 8 p.m.

The OH WOW! Science Center will be open and accessible from 4 - 6 p.m.

Visit Santa’s workshop at 5 p.m. to see the Grinch and Buddy the Elf at 6 West Federal St. downtown.

There will also be Nutcracker Ballet vignettes by Ballet Western Reserve and trees.

There will be pictures with Santa available at 7:15 - 9 p.m. at 6 West Federal St.

Volunteer opportunity

Volunteers are needed to fluff the trees that residents donate on Thursday and prepare them for Santa’s Workshop.

Volunteers are also needed on Friday for decorating.
