Volunteers donate school supplies, community helps Healthy Hearts and Paws Project

Boardman volunteers donate school supplies

Each year, Boardman United Methodist Church volunteers drop off school supplies and clothing for kids in the community.

Two volunteers Stephanie Cookson and Chris Grabert were honored at Boardman Local School monthly board meeting.

Cookson and Grabert are also retired teachers in the district; watch the video below.

West Boulevard Elementary School Alphonse Principal Cervello says whatever the kids need, they’d let the volunteers know and somehow they find a way to help.

Helping the Healthy Hearts and Paws Project

It’s time for the biggest online fundraiser of the year for Brookfield’s Healthy Hearts and Paws Project. The center provides care, as well as temporary placement and adoption for dogs and cats.

The December To Remember Reverse Raffle To Benefit The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project is happening now through Dec. 16.

They’re raising money for a new animal shelter in Warren; so far, they’ve raised over $6,000.

Prizes include a suite sponsorship at the new shelter, multiple Yeti coolers, Bud Light LED signs with beer, 12 Titleist golf balls, $300 in Ohio Lottery scratch-off tickets, $250 in gift cards and a collectible Crown Royal Rocks glass.

Tickets start at $10 each, three for $20, then ten for $50 and 25 FOR $100.

The drawing is happening at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 on Facebook Live.

There’s a volunteer opportunity to help paint the interior of the new animal shelter.

Volunteers are needed to help out from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Dec. 16 and 17 at the new animal shelter in Warren by painting the thousands of blocks that make up Adoption Pods A, B, C and D.
