Warren man gets 12 months on fentanyl, identity fraud charges
The following cases were handled Monday before Judge Cynthia Rice of the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:
- Jason R. Stiner, 39, of Irene Avenue NE, Warren, pleaded guilty to one count possession of fentanyl-related compound and four counts identity fraud. Stiner was sentenced to 12 months in prison that will be served at the same time as a federal prison served from a federal conviction out of U.S. Northern Ohio District Court. The local charge involved a Bazetta Township drug arrest on New Year’s Day 2023, when Stiner told authorities he was his brother Andrew Stiner.
- A set of Trumbull County parents were convicted in a case of “over the top” discipline of their two minor children, prosecutors said. Dennis Williams, 46, and his wife Erica R. Williams, 38, both of Mayburn Barclay Road in Farmdale, will both undergo background investigations before their sentencing. Erica Williams pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree attempted endangering children charge, a felony that carries a maximum 18-month in prison sentence, while Dennis Williams pleaded to a first-degree misdemeanor endangering children offense that carries a maximum 180 days in the county jail sentence. The plea hearing offset a jury trial that was scheduled to start for the two people today before Judge Rice.
- Harry C. Weimer Jr., 58, of Market Street, Cortland, pleaded guilty to three felonies, fifth-degree theft, fifth degree receiving stolen property and a fourth-degree misuse of credit cars dealing with incidents at the Ace Hardware Store in Champion and the Home Depot in Howland earlier this year. Prosecutors said Weimer took three chainsaws worth about $1,087 from the hard ware store, while he charged merchandize and received cash at the Howland chain store using a stolen credit card. The incidents took place in February and March. Weimer will be sentenced after he undergoes a background check conducted by the probation department.
- Sydney V. Peterman, 21, of Reo Court NW, Warren, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault and disrupting public services charges and was sentenced to a 12 month prison sentence. Prosecutors said the convictions stemmed from kicking a police officer in the chest. Because of her long criminal record that began when Peterman was a juvenile at age 13, Judge Rice said the defendant was not eligible for probation and would be sentenced to the term to be served at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville.
