Trumbull County police departments take part in Shop With A Cop events

During the Christmas season, the Warren Police Department and its affiliate FOP Lodge No. 34 raised $5,100 for the Shop with A Cop event where the police officers take needy children on a shopping trip to a local retailer for Christmas gifts.

Members of the department participated in the No Shave November and donated $2,300.

Other donors to the project included VFW Post 1090 of Warren, $1,000; Hunes Industries in Youngstown and Austinton, $500; P4 Industries in Beaver Falls, Pa, $1,200.

The Warren City School District helped the police department find the appropriate children for the shopping trip.

What happened in Bazetta?

Meanwhile, Bazetta police, Bazetta fire, Champion police and the Warren post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol combined to do an annual Shop With a Cop event Dec. 16 at the Walmart Super Center in Batta.

The officers were able to treat about 30 children and even the Grinch couldn’t spoil the event. A social media post noted that the “green” guy was taken into custody.

What happened in Howland?

The Howland Police FOP Lodge 163 reported its annual Shop With a Cop was held Dec. 16 at the Eastwood Mall Target. The officers would like to thank Target, Salvatore’s and the Howland Schools staff for assisting with event.

Earlier in the week, the Howland FOP provided dinner and dessert to senior citizens at the Howland SCOPE center. DiLucia’s catering provided the food. Among the donors to the FOP Lodge 163 during the holidays was a $1,355 check from the Misssion BBQ restaurant in Howland.

The donation came from the sales of the restaurant’s Hometown Hero cups, according to a social media post.

Donations are accepted through the year at the Howland police department at 169 Niles Cortland Road SE.
