Local teacher starts term on Youngstown Board of Education
January is Board Appreciation month,
The Youngstown City Schools District thanked its current board members for advocating for the district, while also welcoming Carie Watson to join the Youngstown Board of Education.
Watson was sworn in as the newest member at the board’s first meeting of the new year on Tuesday.
She’s familiar with the ins and outs of education. Watson graduated from Youngstown State University where she earned her bachelor’s of science degree in education, as well as master’s degrees in literacy and education for leadership.
Watson is currently teaching language arts and social studies at Youngstown Community School on the south side of Youngstown to fifth-grade students.
