The following cases were handled Wednesday before Judge Sean O’Brien of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:

  • Tenicia Shelley, 32, of Farrell, Pa., was given a five-year probation beginning with a term in the Northeast Ohio Community Alternative Program on a felonious assault conviction connected to the stabbing of a man in September 2022 at the Hilltop Gardens Townhomes in Masury. The judge told Shelley she was lucky she didn’t get a prison term and avoided prison because of her background report that rated her a low risk to criminally re-offend and a lack of a previous criminal record. Prosecutors said the victims offered no impact statement to the court. The defendant admitted to stabbing her then 36-year-old boyfriend several times with a six-inch kitchen knife. Police reports also stated Shelley had swung a knife at another woman who was at the apartment at the time. After her time at the NEOCAP rehab, Shelley will serve the remainder of her probation under Mercer County, Pa., authorities, the court record stated.

  • Kevonna O. Marion, 34, of Stewart Drive NW, Warren, received a three-year probation beginning with a 180-day jail term after being convicted of a third-degree endangering children felony. The case involved Marion’s 2-year-old son accidentally shooting himself in the hand with a loaded firearm that was hidden behind a bed in their Warren home. The judge noted that reports showed that Marion previously had to take the gun away from the child prior to the March 26, 2023, shooting. “The fact that you put him (the child) in harm’s way is very concerning to the court,” O’Brien told the mother, who was also ordered to complete a rehab at the Northeast Ohio Community Alternative Program and attend parenting classes.
