Southington man indicted on accusation of threatening to shoot up Warren library
A Southington man has been indicted on a third-degree felony connected to an internet threat “to shoot up” the main branch of the Warren/Trumbull County Public Library on Dec. 12, 2023, prompting the facility to close for the day.
Nathan A. Furlong, 26, of Leiby Osborne Road, Southington, pleaded not guilty before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew D. Logan on Tuesday on a charge of making terroristic threats.
Furlong’s bond was set at $2,500 and he remains housed in the Trumbull County jail pending another pre-trial hearing on Feb. 27 before Judge Logan. Furlong is being represented by the Public Defender’s Office.
Warren police investigated the threat after library representatives called 911 to report a statement “I intend on shooting this place up!” received via Google Review, reports stated.
Jail records showed that Furlong was booked into the facility on Dec. 15. Prosecutors at the hearing told the judge that Furlong is also wanted on a warrant by Portage County authorities.
