The Youngstown Police Department’s second investigation of Club 221 along Mahoning Avenue found that the establishment had violated its state liquor permit, according to Youngstown police reports.

Officers had conducted checks at the establishment in the 1600 block of Mahoning Avenue about 2 a.m. on Feb. 24 and again on Feb. 11.

The club only holds a D3 permit which allows for sales and consumption of alcohol until 1 a.m.

On Feb. 24, officers entered the bar shortly before 2 a.m. and observed several patrons seated at the bar, actively drinking alcohol as well as bar tenders mixing and selling alcoholic drinks. Officers closed the bar at this time.

The club owner JuJuan Pinkard was asked to show his liquor permit which stipulated beer, wine and mixed and spirituous beverages could be served only until 1 a.m. The owner was advised by officers he would be receiving a citation for after-hour sales.

The case will be heard 10 a.m. on March 8 in Youngstown Municipal Court.
