Youngstown State University administration sent a letter officially outlining how Eastern Gateway Community College students can enroll and transfer credits over to YSU.

EGCC paused registration and enrollment for students beyond this spring semester, according to the Ohio Higher Department of Education.

YSU and community colleges in the area are stepping up to fill in the gap and give some options for EGCC students to finish their degrees.

The application fee for YSU has now been waived for current EGCC students, and there’s no fee to send transcripts from EGCC to YSU.

Here’s what YSU sent to EGCC students about transferring, with specifics about financial aid, transcripts and the application process:

Students currently enrolled at EGCC who want to transfer can start the process by completing the online admission application.

YSU admissions representatives will be at the EGCC campus in Youngstown on March 18. They’re available for students who have questions about the transfer process.

According to the university, they’ll be sharing the specific pathways for degrees with students as soon as more information becomes available.

For more information, visit the Welcome EGCC students page on the YSU website, call (330) 941-2000 or email enroll@ysu.edu.

The YSU Board of Trustees approved the plan to welcome EGCC students last week.
