Youngstown fire captain becomes Ohio Fire Service Instructor of the Year
Capt. Courtney Kelly is a firefighter and paramedic in the city of Youngstown with family ties to helping her community in emergencies.
She’s just received the 2024 Ohio Fire Service Instructor of the Year award for teaching up-and-coming firefighters at Choffin Career and Technical Center.
It was handed out by the Ohio Division of EMS.
“We are incredibly grateful for her commitment to excellence and the invaluable impact she has on our students,” Choffin Career and Technical Center wrote on Facebook. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to see Capt. Kelly’s dedication, expertise, and passion for shaping the next generation of firefighters recognized.”
Capt. Kelly’s daughters, Maddie and Kennedy, followed in their parent’s footsteps in law enforcement and public service.
Kennedy Kelly is one of the new officers with the Youngstown Police Department, while Maddie Kelly is a fellow firefighter.
