Youngstown man charged with burglary at Boardman home

A 26-year-old Youngstown man was arrested March 18, by federal marshals and charged in connection to a March 6 burglary of a Boardman home.

Troy B. Griffin Jr., of Ferndale Avenue, Youngstown, was arraigned March 19 in Mahoning County Court in Boardman on charges of three counts theft, two counts misuse of credit card and a fifth-degree felony count of receiving stolen property.

A Boardman police report from March 6 showed that officers were dispatched to first block of Overhill Road to investigate a home burglary. The homeowners stated they left the home for about two hours and came home to find a rear door open.

When going inside, they discovered items missing and others moved touched with officers observing partial footprints inside, which were taken as evidence.

The homeowners listed among the missing items were a $2,249 2019 Apple Macbook Pro, about $200 worth of jewelry including diamond earrings, two passports and a host of figurines valued at $2,500.

A neighbor on Auburn Drive stated a suspect was caught on its doorbell security camera leaving the Overhill Road residents carrying three bags.

The suspect was wearing a gray hoodie and dark pants. Officers were also advised that the Bank of America card that was also taken was used by declined at an East Midlothian Boulevard Speedway.
