The excitement is building ahead of April 8, when the first total eclipse will be visible in northeast Ohio since 1806.

The Rotary Club of Youngstown wants to use the opportunity to support future education about science and technology for eclipses to come.

The Rotary Club of Youngstown will host Rotaryclipse, a family-friendly STEAM education fundraiser at Penguin City Brewing in Youngstown.

Rotaryclipse is happening the day before the eclipse at 2 - 5 p.m. April 7 at Penguin City Brewing in Youngstown.

The club is raising money to support local education in STEAM, which stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.

Kids will hear from people in STEAM careers, like scientists, engineers, science-fiction authors and artists.

Rotaryclipse will also sell NASA-approved eclipse viewing glasses at the event and merchandise gear for watching the eclipse the next day.

Penguin City crafted and will sell a new brew called Black Moon IPA for the event. A portion of the IPA sales will go toward the Rotary Club of Youngstown.

The Rotary Club of Youngstown meets from noon until 1 p.m. on Wednesdays in the pavilion at Wick Park on Youngstown’s North Side.
